Quarantined student through video

This assignment was unique because we were challenged to convey a certain message and theme without the use of any speaking or text in the video. The theme was "Buffalo State student during quarantine". To convey this theme, the use of symbols representing both the school, and the corona virus were very important. Posters with Corona virus protocols posted around the campus did an excellent job of showing the pandemic was happening. Shots of the empty student parking lot also show how different things currently are from the status quo. The public nature of the recordings didn't ever have an affect on the video content. Due to the pandemic, filming in public areas on campus was easy to do without being disturbed, because very few people were around. The self portrait requirement of the assignment was fulfilled by a selfie style video while I walked on campus. the video showed off my mask and that the campus was empty other than me, further showing the effects o...

Experience with Twitter

Since it was first created, Twitter has undergone a functional transformation as far as what info people can get from the site. At first the main function of the site was following celebrities or famous people and keeping up with them on a somewhat personal level through their tweets. Another function of Twitter was following other people you know in real life and keeping up with their lives via their tweets. Over time, the instant nature of Twitter led to it becoming a very effective and efficient way to get news from anywhere around the world. Current events are tweeted about within minutes of happening and the tweets are available for anyone to see which makes it easy for someone to keep up with the news of the events. Now all news outlets have accounts on Twitter and tweet out news as it happens in addition to the citizen journalists that tweet about events. From Personal to What's Popular

When Facebook first emerged on the scene, the emphasis was placed solely on staying in touch with people you may not have a chance to spend time with otherwise. At first, social media was a tool to use to see pictures posted by family members who live out of state or to talk to old friends after you move. Over time, communities of like minded people also began forming on social media with fan pages being made for sports teams, bands, tv shows, etc. A key selling point of social media early on, was that you decide what content you see on your timeline, based on who you are friends with, who you follow, what groups you belong to. Over the last few years however, that formula has been changing. While many people still use social media strictly to keep in contact with people they know personally, sites such as Twitter have become homes for large organizations to reach a very large audience for very cheap. Unlike years ago, much of someones feed on Twitter today li...
